ABOUT JN ASSESSMENTS
We provide specialist psychological assessments designed for adults with learning disabilities, encompassing both diagnostic evaluations and capacity assessments.
WHAT IS A LEARNING DISABILITY?
A learning disability, often referred to as intellectual disability, manifests as a developmental disorder that is present before adulthood. For an individual to be clinically classified as having a learning disability, they must meet the following criteria:
• Significant impairment in intellectual functioning, and
• Significant impairment in adaptive behaviour/social functioning, and
• Onset of symptoms before adulthood.
While assessments can be conducted at any life stage, it is essential that all three criteria are satisfied to confirm the presence of a learning disability. Adherence to best practices mandates the utilisation of standardised assessments administered by trained clinicians, involving input from both the individual being assessed and individuals familiar with them.

Assessment of Intellectual Functioning
